The Rev. Evangeline (Becky) Anderson was born and raised in Baltimore, MD. She came to Rhode Island to attend Brown University and never left. For a number of years, she was very involved in amateur theater, and going to the theater continues to be one of her favorite pastimes. |

Rev. Anderson received her Masters in Divinity degree from the General Theological Seminary in New York City, the oldest Episcopal seminary in the country. She was ordained deacon and priest in 1994. After serving at churches in Providence, Warwick, Middletown, and Pascoag RI, she was called to St. Alban’s Church and has been rector there for 13 years. She has served in many capacities at the Diocesan level, including: Diocesan Council (including a stint as Vice-President), Congregational Development Commission, Companion Diocese Committee, Teacher in the Deacon School, and Member of RI State Council of Churches Department of Advocacy, Justice, and Service. In addition to parochial and diocesan work, she has served as Chaplain for Hospice Care of Rhode Island, and Hospice Care for the Visiting Nurse Association of Newport and Bristol Counties. Rev. Anderson is a widow with two grown children, and three grandchildren, all of whom are a great joy. She loves to read, and has belonged to the same reading discussion group for almost 20 years. As evidenced at the annual St. Alban’s Mardi Gras Follies, she enjoys telling jokes, and making people laugh. People often ask what to call a woman priest. At. St. Alban’s, “Rev. Becky” and “Mother Becky” are the most popular titles, but just plain “Becky” is fine. Mother Becky announced her retirement from St. Alban's during the summer of 2011. Her last day at St. Alban's was October 2, 2011. |
